Otham Referendum Information Statement


A neighbourhood plan referendum will be held for the Otham Neighbourhood Plan 2020– 2035 on Thursday 8 July 2021.

The question in the referendum will be:

"Do you want Maidstone Borough Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Otham to decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

This is the same area covered by the neighbourhood plan.

Who Can Vote

A person is entitled to vote in the referendum on Thursday 8 July 2021 if:

  • He or she is entitled to vote in a local government election in the referendum area and
  • His or her qualifying address for the election is in the referendum area. A persons qualifying address is the address which he or she is entitled to be registered according to the electoral register

Expenses

771 people are entitled to vote in the referendum.

We've used that number to calculate expenses which are limited to £2,407.49.

The referendum will be conducted using the same procedures as those used at the local elections on Thursday 6 May 2021.
