SALARY: Grade 8 starting at £27,203 + Car Allowance with opportunities for salary progression in line with the career grade

You will join a progressive and inclusive planning department which believes in enabling its staff to successfully navigate their planning ambitions.

This is a really exciting opportunity for Graduates with a degree in Planning or a related subject, who are enthusiastic, flexible and hard-working, to join the Development Management Team within the Council’s Planning & Development Service. As a graduate you will be given all the support and guidance required to fulfil the role from a team of professional colleagues who will help you to develop and succeed. In return we ask candidates to have a good work ethic, be reliable, with a positive attitude and a keenness to learn the organisation’s policies and procedures.

As well as gaining valuable on the job work training and work experience, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to study for a post graduate qualification with the potential to obtain full RTPI status. The Council will be working with the educational and professional institutions to deliver and fully support this programme, and you will be involved in identifying your preferred course of study

You will be working with a supportive and talented group of Planners as you determine a wide range of applications, including householder, adverts, change of use, breaches, telecommunications and Certificates of Lawfulness in an area experiencing one of the highest number of applications in Kent.

Working in the busy Development Management Householder and Minors team, we are looking for a strong team player, with enthusiasm and a real desire to make further improvement happen and take initiative. You will also have self-organisation and strong IT skills and be able to meet deadlines. For this post you will need to have a keen customer focus and have experience working with members of the public as well as excellent written and verbal communication. Your track record and approach in these areas are as important as your experience or qualifications.

A driving licence with use of your own car is essential in order to undertake site visits.
