Stray dogs

We collect or seize any stray dogs found in the borough and keep them safe until they are claimed. If they haven’t been collected after seven days, the dog will be rehomed.

Lost dogs

If you have lost your dog, you should contact:

  • all kennels and stray dog boarding facilities in your area
  • Viking Oak Kennels on 01732 883 468
  • all of the vets in your area
  • Dog Lost

If we find your dog

Lost dogs will be taken to a safe holding kennel. If the dog is microchipped or has identification, we will contact the owner as soon as possible.

All dogs are kept for seven days. After this time, they may be rehomed. There will be a charge to get your dog back. This fee pays for collecting and kennelling costs.

The Dog Lost website helps reunite owners with their dogs. You can post pictures and details about your pet and find information about dogs that have been found.
