Appeal your business rates

Rateable value appeal

If you are not happy with the rateable value of your property, you may appeal it, subject to certain conditions or circumstances.

All appeals against the rateable value of a property should be sent to the Valuation Office Agency. Visit the VOA website for more details.

Rates are payable on the basis of the rateable value currently appearing in the list and you remain liable to pay the account sent to you even if you have appealed against the rateable value of your property until the rateable value is changed.

If the value is reduced, any overpayment will be refunded. You'll also get any interest that might be due in certain instances.

Other appeals

If you are not happy with any decision we make relating to the granting or not granting of any matter, you should email our Business Rates Team.
