Recommendation[1] |
Cabinet Member[2] |
Response[3]
|
Timetable[4] |

That alternative sources of funding be sought for the testing and reinstatement of historic memorials.

Churchyards – Look into possibility of “before and after” photos of older style memorials from Cemetery or acquire “before and after” photos from actual churchyards when work commences
Work has not yet started, therefore no photoboard has been prepared.
|
End Dec 2006 or when work commences |
FMO |
|
That information, including photographs in a ‘storyboard’ format, be placed on the council website, in the Borough Update, and on a notice-board at Maidstone Cemetery.
|
Environment |

End Dec 2006 |
BSO |
Leisure and Culture |
The style will be replicated when work on closed church yards starts |
At commencement |
BSO |
|
That lists of memorials that have failed safety tests be posted on the council website and on cemetery or churchyard notice boards.
|
Environment |
Cemetery – to be prepared for all future inspection failures. Listing of memorials that have already failed, and in many instances that have now been reinstated, is not considered necessary as it may confuse grave owners.
|

BSO |
Leisure and Culture |
Churchyards – to be arranged when the work commences – subject to the CoE Faculty allowing this
Work has not yet started.
|
As inspections are completed |
FMO |
|
That a five-year rolling programme of testing be introduced in cemeteries, closed churchyards and other burial areas in the borough.
|
Environment |
Cemetery – scheme of re-inspections will be implemented on a priority basis and at least every 5 years for all memorials once the primary audit inspections have been completed.
This is in hand.
|
Anticipated commencement date mid-2007 |
BSO/FMO |
Leisure and Culture |
Churchyards – to be included in general planning of inspection/reinstatement project
