PURPOSE OF JOB
To act as a non-voting independent member of the council’s audit committee
|
|
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
|
|
Ø To give independent opinion and advice to the Audit Committee on:
· the effectiveness of the authority’s risk management arrangements, the control environment and associated anti-fraud and anti-corruption arrangements; · actions being taken on risk-related issues identified by auditors and inspectors; · the authority’s assurance statements, including the Statement on Internal Control, ensuring they properly reflect the risk environment and any actions required to improve it; · internal audit’s strategy, plan and performance; · summary internal audit reports, including the main issues arising, and action that has been taken where necessary; · the annual report of the head of internal audit; · the reports of external audit and inspection agencies; · the effectiveness of the relationships between external and internal audit, inspection agencies and other relevant bodies, and the active promotion of the value of the audit process; · the financial statements, external auditor’s opinion and reports to members, along with management action in response to the issues raised by external audit;
