Note on Kent County Council latest letter received at 16.58 on 20 March 2024 from Simon Jones, Corporate Director of Growth, Environment and Transport, Kent County Council

This is a follow-up letter to the letter sent from Simon Jones at 16.37 on Tuesday 19 March 2024. The matters contained within the previous letter were considered by the Cabinet and a briefing note has been provided to all members.

This further letter responds to the Cabinet discussion and has regard to 3 points:

1.      Adoption of the Local Plan

2.      Funding towards education infrastructure

3.      Education Support Grant

Adoption of the Local Plan

In summary KCC remain of the view that the Local Plan Review should not be adopted due to the framework for securing or funding a school.

Funding towards education infrastructure

In summary this raises points around the lack of funding from developer contributions towards education.

Education Support Grant

This sets out the relationship between the funding framework for the Local Plan Review and the Government funding.

Officer’s advice is that the briefing note previously circulated to members sufficiently addresses the matters raised in this latest letter.
