Scrutiny Committee Recommendation Action and Implementation Plan (SCRAIP)

Report of: Overview & Scrutiny Officer

1.      Introduction

1.1        To consider the Committee’s previous recommendations and the responses from witnesses.

 2.     Recommendation

2.1        That the Committee reviews the responses on the Scrutiny Committee Recommendation Action and Implementation Plans (SCRAIP) following the previous five meetings, attached at Appendix A-H, to ensure that they are appropriate and the Committee take the opportunity to raise any concerns or issues with the responses and invite back witnesses if necessary.

3       Scrutiny Committee Recommendation Action and Implementation Plan (SCRAIP)

3.1    SCRAIPs represent the main way in which Committees communicate with the Executive or Officers. Once the minutes have been approved by the Chairman and witnesses, recommendations are sent to the relevant lead officers. They have one month from the date they receive the SCRAIP to respond.

3.2    Following a Scrutiny Co-Ordinating Committee Meeting that was held on Thursday 6 October 2011, it was recommended ‘that a SCRAIP update form part of each Committee meeting and where a response to a SCRAIP recommendation was not satisfactory the relevant officer would be invited back to the Committee’.

4.      Impact on Corporate Objectives

4.1    The Committee will consider reports that deliver against the following Council priority:

·       For Maidstone to have a growing economy.

4.2    The Strategic Plan sets the Council’s key objectives for the medium term and has a range of objectives which support the delivery of the Council’s priorities.  Actions to deliver these key objectives may therefore include work that the Committee will consider over the next year.
