Proposed Pricing Structure for Garden Waste Service

Explanatory Notes

1, Cost of 240 litre garden bin set in Fees and Charges Report for 2012/13 and will be subject to review for 2013/14.

2, Cost of 140 litre bin reflects the operational costs of emptying the bin and transporting the waste and therefore can not reflect the actual reduction in capacity / tonnage.

3, Compostable sacks have limited shelf-life and are significantly more expensive to provide compared with wheeled bins.  Therefore only 26 sacks will be provided initially and residents can collect an additional 26 from the Gateway should they be required.  The aim of this is to reduce wastage as the bags must be used with the annual subscription period.

4, Shared bins will require a single invoice address and the residents will need to make private arrangements to share the cost.
