Kent County Council elections
Be a councillor
Kent County Council (KCC) elections are taking place on 1 May 2025. They are holding an event for people interested in standing to learn more about what’s involved.
The event will include panels with current KCC members, facilitated by a representative from the Local Government Association, touching on topics such as the different member roles and responsibilities, and achieving work-life balance as a member. There will also be information on the process of standing to be a councillor and the opportunity for you to ask questions of your own.
If you’re interested in finding out more about the role of county councillors and how you can get involved, come along to KCC’s 'Be a Councillor' event on 25 October 11am to 1pm at Sessions House, Maidstone.
Kent County Council (KCC) operates in a two-tier system. KCC is responsible for certain services across the whole county, including 12 borough, city and district councils. This includes Maidstone Borough Council. County councillors are elected to represent a specific area of Kent.
The last KCC election was held on Thursday 6 May 2021.
Elections are scheduled to take place every four years and the next KCC election will be Thursday 1 May 2025.
Current councillors will hold their seat until then unless they resign or otherwise vacate their seat within their term.
