Statement of reasons

The borough of Maidstone (off street parking places) 2018 (variation no. 4) order 2025. Proposed amendments to off-street parking places order.

The Maidstone Borough Council intends to make the above-named order, in order to:

Revise the car park tariffs and season ticket charges applicable to car parks as approved by the Climate Transition, Corporate and Environmental Services Policy Advisory Committee on 3 December 2024

Off-street order

The Council of the Borough of Maidstone (“the Council”) in exercise of its powers under section 35(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, and of all other enabling powers, with the consent of the Kent County Council in accordance with section 39(3) of the Act and after consulting the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby propose to make the following order:-

This Order may be cited as “The Borough of Maidstone (Off-street Parking Places) (Variation No.4) Order 2025” and shall come into effect on the xxxxxxxxx.
In this Order the expression “Order of 2018” means The Maidstone Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2018.
The Order of 2018 shall have effect as though
(I) in Schedule 1 thereto, the details specified in Part (I), charges relating to Parking Places, items 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,19,20,21, and 22 shall be amended;
(ii) in Part (II) Schedule 2 (EVENING) (any Car Park) thereto, the Tariff Charge shall be amended.
(iii) in Part (II) Schedule 2 Mote Park Car Parks (Season Tickets) thereto, the Tariff Charge shall be amended;

Notice is hereby given that Maidstone Borough Council intend to make the above order under section 35 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, having obtained the consent of the Kent County Council in accordance with Section 39(3) of the Act, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act -

The Order will;

Revise the current tariffs contained in the schedules to the above order as shown in the tables below.
