New local nature reserves


We are committed to providing places for nature to thrive allowing residents and visitors to connect with biodiversity, protect habitats and species and learn from the surrounding environments. After careful selection and approval from Natural England, five sites have been declared as new local nature reserves by the council between 2023 and 2024.

These are:

  • Allington Millennium Green
  • Fant
  • Spot Lane
  • Weavering Heath, Five Acre and Wents Wood
  • Hayle Park

Allington Millennium Green

Public notice

Declaration of nature reserve borough of Maidstone county of Kent.

Notice is hereby given in pursuance of section 19 of the above-mentioned act that by the local nature reserve declaration 2 of 2023, made on the day of 23 May 2023, 0.83 hectares or thereabouts situation in borough of Maidstone and shown edged black on the plan attached to the said declaration owned by the Allington Millennium Green trust and that the said land is being managed as a nature reserve.
Certified copies of the said declaration with plan attached have been deposited for public inspection free of charge at the office of Maidstone Borough Council at Maidstone Borough Council Depot, Bircholt Road, Park Wood Industrial Estate, Maidstone, ME15 9XY Monday to Friday from 9am to 12pm by appointment, please email parksandopenspaces@maidstone.gov.uk.

In pursuance of Sections 19 and 21 of the above-mentioned act, and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, the Maidstone Borough Council hereby declares that the land containing 0.83 hectares or thereabouts situated in the Borough of Maidstone in the County of Kent and shown edged black on the below plan owned by the Allington Millennium Green trust and in pursuance of Section 19 (2) of the above-mentioned Act and all other powers aforesaid the council hereby further declare that the said land is being managed as a nature reserve.

This declaration may be referred to as the Allington Millennium Green local nature reserve.

This declaration may be referred to as the Weavering Heath, Five Acre and Wents Wood local nature reserve.

This declaration may be referred to as the Spot Lane local nature reserve.
