Your black wheelie bin or sacks are for rubbish that cannot be recycled and is collected fortnightly.

What you cannot put in
- builder's rubbish such as rubble, tiles or wood
- bulky heavy items
- DIY items such as paint tins
- electrical items
- flammable liquids
- gas bottles, including fire extinguishers
- needles
- tyres or car batteries
- mirrors/glass
- batteries - these need to be recycled
- knives or sharp items
- books
What happens to your waste
The rubbish from your black bin is taken to Kent Enviropower in Allington. Here the waste is burnt to create electricity.
