The proposed extension to the Detling
Conservation Area was identified as part of the regular review of
the conservation area boundary which was undertaken with the
conservation area appraisal in (adopted) March 2008. Detling was
first designated in September 1971 and the boundary had not been
altered since that time. The records relating to the designation
are no longer available.
This report has been prepared within the context of the Detling
Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (Amended) 2024. The
previous 2008 Appraisal recommended that in due course
consideration should be given to an extension of the conservation
area to encompass the area forming the former East Court. This was
not implemented, and the current review proposes a larger extension
to the existing boundary to include the new village green to the
west, and the Cricket pitch to the east, including the Croft
(Tawanda). These assets provide a public benefit, but form an
important part of the setting of the Conservation Area.
The proposed document is to go out for public
consultation
