Notice of change to executive arrangements

Section 9KC (2) of Part 1A Local Government Act 2000

Maidstone Borough Council has resolved to make a change in its governance arrangements in order to move from the current committee arrangements to a Leader and Cabinet system. This decision was made at the Full Council meeting on 29 September 2021.

The main features of the new executive arrangements are that, except for (1) day-to-day operational matters and (2) major decisions which are taken at meetings of the Full Council, decisions will be made by a Leader and Cabinet.

As a result of the resolution it will be necessary for significant changes to the constitution to be made, these changes will be approved by full Council.

The change to the governance arrangements will have effect from the next Annual Council Meeting on 21 May 2022.
