Change in Governance Arrangements
On 22 May 2021, as its Annual Meeting, Maidstone Borough Council agreed to change its governance arrangements from the ‘Committee System’ to the ‘Executive System’, to take effect from the Annual Meeting to be held on 21 May 2022.

The change in governance arrangements was referred to the Democracy & General Purposes (D&GP) Committee on 30 June 2021. A cross-party Working Group was established to oversee the development of the new model, which was then presented to the D&GP Committee on 8 September 2021. The proposed model was then presented to Full Council on 29 September 2021 and agreed. As the Council’s Constitution will be subject to significant changes, the D&GP Committee will continue to receive updates from the cross-party working group, in accordance with the timetable shown below.
