Bearsted Conservation Area Review & Boundary Extension

The Bearsted Conservation Area was first designated by the Kent County Council on 3 July 1970 and revised on 19 October 1977 as part of a general review of conservation areas in the Borough. Under Section 69(2) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, Maidstone Borough Council has a responsibility to review Conservation Areas ‘from time to time’. This is to ensure that the character of the area is reassessed, highlighting where designation may no longer be justified through degradation of all or part of the Conservation Area, and review the boundary to ensure that it is still appropriate.
The submitted information undertakes this review and proposed extension, and looks to take this out for public consultation.
