The
Chairman and Councillors Prendergast and Spooner stated that they
had been lobbied.
The
Committee considered the report of the Head of Planning and
Development.
Mr
Barrett, an objector, and Councillor Adkinson (Visiting Member)
addressed the meeting.
Contrary to the recommendation of the Head of Planning and
Development, the Committee agreed to refuse permission. In making this decision, Members felt that
the proposal, by virtue of its proximity to site
boundaries and lack of boundary landscaping would result in a
visually incongruous built form harmful to the character and
appearance of the surrounding area contrary to policies SP1 and DM1
of the Maidstone Borough Local Plan and the NPPF 2012.
RESOLVED: That
permission be refused for the following
reason:
The
proposal, by virtue of its proximity to site boundaries and lack of
boundary landscaping would result in a visually incongruous built
form harmful to the character and appearance of the surrounding
area contrary to policies SP1 and DM1 of the Maidstone Borough
Local Plan and the NPPF 2012.
