What happens next

Our Housing Standards Team will contact you within five working days. When we get your application, we will look at it and decide what to do next. We may:

  • contact your landlord to tell them about the problem
  • give your landlord notice before we visit
  • inspect the property
  • take action in line with our enforcement policy

What we can do

We may take action by:

  • giving advice to you or your landlord
  • serving a Hazard Awareness Notice to tell the landlord about problems
  • serving an Improvement Notice that explains what needs fixing and how long they have to do it
  • make a Prohibition Order to stop the use of the home
