Resident parking permits


A permit is allocated to a specific vehicle registered at your address. You can apply for up to two vehicle permits depending on your permit zone, which would include a visitor's permit.

To check your vehicle is registered to your address, we will ask for one of the following:

  • your car insurance schedule
  • your vehicle registration document (V5C)
  • a headed letter from your employer
  • a signed hire or lease agreement

Terms

  • if your vehicle is over 3,5 tonnes for example some types of large vans, you are unable to get a permit
  • if you live in a bedsit you can only have one vehicle permit
  • permit holders are not guaranteed a particular space as any vehicle displaying a valid permit may park within the relevant zone
  • blue badge holders may park in residents' bays for as long as they need to while their badge is displayed

Cost

  • 1st permit - £25
  • 2nd permit (additional) - £25
  • 3rd permit (additional) - £50
  • Changing or replacing a permit - £10

Apply for a new permit

What happens next

We will aim to deliver your permit by post within four to five working days. The permit(s) is valid for a year.  We do not offer refunds for unused or partially used permits.

Visitor's permits

You can only apply for one visitor's permit. Visitor permits are not allocated to an individual vehicle, you will need to make sure a valid permit is displayed at all times.

Renewals and replacements

If your permit is due for renewal we will email you five weeks before they are due to run out. If you have lost, had your permit stolen or destroyed you can apply for a replacement.

Additional permits and changes

You can apply for one additional resident's permit. You can only have one visitor's permit. If you change your vehicle before your current permit expires, you'll need to update your details and send us proof of ownership.
