Tell us about a change
If you receive Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support or both, you must tell us about any changes in your or your family's circumstances. You need to tell us directly even if you have told the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as they might not notify us.
Types of changes
If anything changes you need to tell us as soon as possible. If you do not tell us, you may lose out on benefit or we may overpay you. We need to know if you, your partner or a member of the household has:
- a change of income, for example, they leave or start a job
- a change in benefits
- moved in or out
- changes to savings
- changes in how much rent you pay
- gives birth, fosters or adopts a child
There may be other changes which will affect your claim that are not in the list above. If you have changed address you can find out more and how to report it on our webpage.
Let us know
You may need to provide your:
- benefit reference number
- your National Insurance number
- proof of identification
- bank statements
- evidence of any changes, for example proof of a rent increase
Wages
If your wages have changed you can upload your payslips for us to take a look at. If you have started a new job and do not have any payslips, you can upload a certificate of earnings instead.
If you are self-employed, you will need to fill out our earnings form.
What happens next
We will update your application and aim to respond within one week. If more information is needed, we will contact you.
Stop your benefits
If you need to stop claiming benefits, you must tell us as soon as possible.
