Add a new host for home boarding

If you operate as a franchise, all hosts must be registered with the local authority. The total number of current hosts must be listed on the arranger’s licence. All hosts who are no longer boarding under the franchise must be removed from the licence.

Inspections

If a change is requested, we will arrange an inspection. An inspector will make a short visit to the host premises. They will meet the host and make sure the premises are safe for dog boarding.

Costs

There is a fee payable for each host working under the franchise name. We will charge £190 per new host. The costs cover the time spent by our officers handling the request and the new certificate.

Request a variation

To request a change to an arranger’s licence, you will need to provide:

  • written procedures specific to the host, based on the layout of the premises, storage of equipment, and other relevant details
  • emergency vet details, including a letter from the vet practice confirming the services they provide
  • how many dogs will be boarded, and if they are from one or multiple households
  • emergency key holder contact details for each host
  • site and floor plans of the host premises
  • details of the records each host will hold
