Pride in Place
The Park Wood and Senacre area has been chosen for Pride in Place funding. The area will get £20 million over ten years to improve things that matter to people who live and work there. Local people will decide how the money is spent across Park Wood and Mangravet, Senacre, Shepway and parts of Loose and Linton.
How it works
The Neighbourhood Board and the Independent Chair will lead the programme. Both will be separate from the council and government. They will work with residents to make a ten-year Pride in Place Plan to decide how money is spent on:
- regeneration, high streets, and heritage
- work, productivity, and skills
- education and opportunity
- health and wellbeing
- community cohesion
- safety and security
- transport
- housing
Timeline
We will work towards the following timeline:
- April 2026: the Independent Chair and Neighbourhood Board recruitment period opens
- Summer 2026: events for community engagement will take place
- July 2026: the Board memberships will be submitted to the government
- Autumn 2026: the government will review the Board memberships
- November 2026: the Pride in Place Plan will be submitted to the government for approval
The Board and Chair will work with the community to set priorities before the November submission. The submission of the plan marks the start of the ten-year investment programme.
