7a)   Presentation of Petition: Managing On and Off Street Parking Demand

 

The Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Wooding and the appropriate Council Officers have been invited to the meeting to be interviewed in relation to the petition.

 

In accordance with Council Procedure Rule 11, a petition has been presented to the Committee from residents.  The wording of the petition is as follows:

 

“Petition to Maidstone Borough Council opposing proposals to charge for Sunday parking, scrapping of free parking permits and free on-site parking bays.  We the undersigned Council tax payers oppose the above proposals.  We call upon Maidstone Borough Council to instruct its departmental heads to identify and implement savings of at least 10% in their department’s budget with effect from 6 April 2009, the start of the next financial year.”
