Submit a research request

You will need to submit a research request if you would like to receive confirmation from us on the closure of an enforcement case or compliance with:

  • an enforcement notice
  • a listed building consent
  • a section 106 planning obligation
  • conditions on planning applications.

A fee is payable for this service. Please be advised that each request will require a separate fee and each request is dealt with separately. We will aim to respond to a desktop query within 15 working days.

It may be the case that we need to carry out a site visit to be able to answer the query fully in which case you will be contacted and asked to pay a surcharge. Requests will have a target response time of 20 working days from the date of the additional payment being received.

Enforcement

Email our planning enforcement team if you require written confirmation of:

  • the closure of an enforcement case (and the reasons for closure)
  • compliance with an enforcement notice
  • the removal of an enforcement notice from the statutory register address

Email planningenforcement@maidstone.gov.uk with the case reference, details of the request, and photograph(s) where relevant. Removal of the notice from the register will require an investigation. If the request is refused, you will still be charged.

Charges

The cost for closure of the enforcement case or compliance with an enforcement notice is:

  • desktop: £105
  • site visit surcharge: £53
  • investigation and decision about the removal of an enforcement notice from the register: £315

Compliance with planning conditions or section 106 clauses

We will need to know the planning application reference number and the date of the Section 106 planning obligation. You can then make the request by emailing the Planning Technical team, submitting all necessary supporting information and photograph(s) where relevant.

Charges for confirmation of listed building works

If you require written confirmation of completion of listed building works in accordance with the consent, You will need to email the Planning Technical team with the address, case reference, details and photograph(s) where relevant. You will be advised if the query can be a desktop response or will involve the need for a site visit.

If a conservation officer needs to carry out a site visit to be able to answer the query fully, you will be notified and asked to pay a surcharge.
