Household assistance fund
You may be able to get help if you have a low income and need financial help. The household assistance fund can pay for:
- electricity, water or gas bills
- white goods or furniture
- food, fuel or public transport
If you need urgent help, you may be able to apply for support from Kent County Council.
Who can apply
You can apply if you are a low-income household or get a means-tested benefit and:
- are in a financial crisis or money emergency
- have no other way to resolve the crisis
- live in Maidstone
You must have permission to apply for someone else.
How to apply
To apply, tell us:
- who lives in your household
- your household income and benefits
- your National Insurance Numbers
We also need three months of bank statements and payslips that show:
- money coming in and going out
- account balances
- full names
If you need help completing the form or need an accessible version, please email welfareteam@maidstone.org.uk. Someone will be able to help you fill in the form.
What happens next
We will look at your application and email you with our decision. If approved, we will send your payment within two days.
Our welfare team will work with all applicants. They will give advice and signposts to other organisations that can help.
