Housing grants
You may be able to get a housing grant to adapt, improve or repair your home. Grants are available for disabled adaptations, energy efficiency improvements and essential repairs.
Disabled adaptations grant
You may be able to apply for a disabled adaptations grant of up to £30,000. The money can help pay for adaptations such as ramps, level-access showers, stairlifts, and other changes that support independent living.
A further top-up grant of up to £10,000 may also be available to cover costs not met by the adaptations grant.
A means test usually applies, unless the adaptation is for a disabled child.
Energy efficiency grants
Eligible homeowners may be able to apply for an energy efficiency grant of up to £5,000 to top up funding from other local or national schemes.
Housing repair grant
Eligible owner-occupiers may be able to apply for a housing repair grant of up to £30,000 for repairs and improvements that remove serious hazards and make a property safe to live in.
