Content and Interaction Designer

Are you interested in designing government digital services that make a difference?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Transformation and Digital Services Team at Maidstone Borough Council. We make things better by building modern, accessible, and adaptable services that are simple to use and meets the expectations of our residents and employees in this internet age.

We are looking for an experienced Content and/or Interaction Designer to help simplify and improve the interactions residents and businesses in Maidstone have with the Council online.

We understand that Content Design and Interaction Design are different fields of expertise. We are seeking someone with good experience in either field and a good understanding and willingness to develop in the other.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team your role will be responsible for designing accessible public and internal services that are simple enough for everyone to use. Working with evidence from user research, analytics, and best practice in the industry to create, iterate and refine the design process.

This is a newly created role at the Council, and you will use your professional experience to help the organisation understand the importance of Content and Interaction Design. Lead the development of design concepts to deliver digital products that are easy to find and use. You’ll own the design system and ensure consistency and accessibility of digital products.

The Council considers that all roles should be able to communicate clearly and concisely.

Maidstone Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.
